Screen Print I: Watercolor Monotype

This event is currently full.
Learn screen printing and monotype printmaking at once in this one-day workshop! Using watercolors with screen printing allows the artist to achieve a full color print quickly, and also introduces a new way to experience the paint itself. Printing with watercolors can capture the character of your mark in crisper detail than is often achieved with direct painting, and can appear as delicate or rich as the artist needs. The benefits of using a screen for watercolor painting are especially clear as the artist is also able to erase the image quite easily! We will use screen filler to arrive at concepts of stenciling and blocking out, and practice printing skills when paintings are finished and the time comes to print your work to paper. This is a great introduction to screen printing, as it offers all the foundations of the medium, in a quicker presentation. This workshop is appropriate for all skill levels, so newcomers as well as seasoned printmakers are welcome.
